Fire Calls

Below, you will find a brief summary of emergency calls to which FD 16 has responded.  Predominately our calls are related to fire, medical emergency, or traffic incidents.  Calls for emergency services are, by their very nature, highly variable from year to year. Because we became a certified medical aid agency at the end of 2012 our call volume is expected to climb in year 2013 and beyond.

  • Emergency calls in 2014

The fire district made 49 responses to 44 incidents. Medical responses amounted to 25 and wildland accounted for 10. There were 4 structure fires.

  • Emergency Calls in 2013

The fire district made 47 responses to 30 incidents. Medical responses amounted to 18 and wildland accounted for 21.

  • Emergency Calls in 2012

The fire district was called out on 21 events. Some were false alarms but others included wildland fires, structure fires, medical incidents and accidents

  • Emergency Calls in 2011

This  was a very light year for callouts but we kept busy in the background working on various service upgrages and enhancements.

  • Definitions

Call (or callout) - The event that lets FD 16 know a possible incident occurred. It could be a phone call, pageout or even generated by one of our members to something they saw or heard.

Incident (main) - an event that qualifies for emergency action. It will be broken down into predefined categories (i.e. vegetation fire, structure fire, vehicle accident, medical intervention etc.). These incident categories are those we need to track for purposes of applying for grants.

Incident (sub) - this is an incident type that was created by the main incident. For example, a vehicle accident may generate a vegetation fire incident and maybe even a medical intervention incident.

Response - This is our action taken for the incident. For multi-incident events (i.e. car accident and vegetation fire) it counts as one response for each incident type. Each day that we are actively working the incident counts also as a response. So, for example, if a vehicle accident (handled same day) and wildland fire occurs (take 3 days active work to contain) then it would count as one response to a vehicle accident and 3 responses to a wildland fire. Follow up status checks on incident sites are not counted as responses.
