Fire District 16 began service Janurary 1, 2007 with 11 volunteers and no equipment to cover 18.5 square miles. By 2013 we had grown to 50.5 Square miles protected by 19 Firefighters (6 being state certified EMT's), 5 support personnel and 11 In-service fire vehicles (a medical aid unit, 3 structural firefighting engines, 2 water tenders and 5 wildland firefighting engines).
Mission Statement:
Our mission is to provide the residents and property owners of Okanagan Fire Protection District 16 with the most complete and effective emergency services possible within the constraints of our available trained personnel, finances and equipment.
The District was approved by Voters in November 2006 and officially started operations on January 1, 2007.
Expected Annual Tax Revenue was about $19,000. Since then we have grown in volunteers, resources, and coverage area.
